What is ISO 22000?
ISO 22000 is a Food Safety Management System Standard that was first published in 2005 by ISO Technical Committee 34. The standard is based on HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) which is a process level methodology that is employed in food handling activities in order to identify and reduce food safety risks to consumers.
ISO 22000 goes beyond the process level and addresses overall management system elements within an organization which are considered key to the success of a HACCP program and provides a requirements framework that allows for organizations at all stages of the food processing chain to become certified.
